Like any other organization, healthcare facilities and systems can suffer from ineffective collaboration and communication, thanks to the disparate devices and platforms being used in an increasingly interconnected digital environment. Moreover, the larger your organization—and the more facilities, clinicians, and staff you need to include—the harder it becomes to conduct meetings or consults that once took place in a single room with everyone using the same equipment or no equipment at all. It gets even harder when you add in such complexities as in-room hospital consults or the need to include remote participants in bedside check-ins or medical education sessions.

The Intel Unite® solution gives you the ability to integrate all participants seamlessly, first by bridging the gap between devices and operating systems. As long as participants have downloaded the Intel Unite software, they have the ability to join an Intel Unite session—in person or remotely—with any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or mobile device running any major operating system, be it Windows, iOS, Android, macOS, or Linux. All they need to do is launch the app and enter a six-digit PIN. Better yet, they don’t need any cables, dongles, or other physical connection.

Integrate More Capabilities with Apps

While integrating all your participants in the meeting easily, Intel also offers a number of apps that can enhance your Intel Unite experience. Here are just some of the apps that can help you make your meetings and consults even more productive:

AgilQuest. This room-booking software integrates with the Intel Unite solution to allow users to reserve a room and check in via digital sign, mobile app, or web browser while simultaneously launching the Intel Unite application, creating a seamless user experience.

AirServer. This app’s universal screen mirroring receiver works with the Intel Unite solution to help guest participants easily join meetings, view content, and present.

AVer. This plugin enables users to seamlessly control AVer cameras and speakerphones from the Intel Unite solution, making it easier to create and manage meetings by eliminating complexity.

Bluescape. Use this plugin to easily start meetings and launch Bluescape Workspaces within Intel Unite-enabled meeting rooms to better support sharing of content, connecting to third-party apps, and presenting to meeting participants, whether local or remote.

Patient Sight. This Intel solution, available with an additional subscription, is a simple-to-use inpatient telehealth app that lets clinicians, including doctors, PAs, nurses, and pharmacists, observe, and communicate with patients remotely using high-resolution audio and video.

But the flexibility and adaptability of the Intel Unite solution doesn’t end with the widely available apps offered through Intel. Because of its open architecture, the Intel Unite solution is highly customizable. Using the publicly available Intel Unite® Plugin Software Development Kit (SDK), developers can create apps that expand the software’s capabilities to address their organization’s specific needs.

For example, using the SDK, a group of college students developed an app that medical staff can use in intensive care and critical care hospital rooms. The app uses a device’s microphone to determine which machine’s tone is sounding in a patient’s room, then alerts the nurses’ station to determine what’s needed. This saves healthcare staff valuable time by giving them a remote pre-assessment capability, so they only need to don their PPE once to enter the room with the appropriate medicines or treatments ready to go.

Bringing Together All Your Familiar Tools

A key feature of the Intel Unite solution is that it works with all your familiar remote conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex.

By combining wireless content sharing software with an enabled hub computer, you can quickly and easily convert any ordinary meeting room into an intelligent collaboration space, connecting displays and mixed technology environments so your team can share and collaborate seamlessly, wherever they are.

In addition, native touchback integration allows presenters to untether from their computers. With a touchscreen in the front of the room, presenters can manage meetings with their computer sitting on a table, using the larger display as if it were a remote touchscreen.

An annotation feature even allows participants to draw attention to anything on the screen, circling, underlining, or jotting notes as if using a whiteboard.

Working Better, Together

Whether you select the on-premises or cloud option, the Intel Unite solution works with your existing technologies for controlled collaboration and content sharing while being easy to use and requiring no training for most users. If you’re looking for a new or improved collaboration tool, the Intel Unite solution, with its lower total cost of ownership and ability to integrate with your existing infrastructure, could be what your healthcare organization needs.
